Time Running Out to claim $31 million Mega Jackpot, Remaining Share of $8 million Lotto Jackpot

Schenectady, NY – The New York Lottery today announced that time is running out for the winners of two unclaimed jackpots. The Lottery is urging players to check their old Lottery tickets to determine if any were purchased for the July 29, 2006 Lotto drawing or the August 1, 2006 Mega Millions drawing.  Tickets for both jackpots remain unclaimed as of this writing.

“The New York Lottery encourages all players to check their old tickets to see if they have the winning numbers for either of these drawings,” said Lottery Director Robert J. McLaughlin.  “All we need is a valid winning ticket and proper identification to award these cash prizes to their rightful owners.”

The winning numbers for the July 29, 2006 Lotto drawing were 5, 10, 15, 25, 30, 35 with a bonus number of 53.  Six jackpot-winning tickets were sold for the July 29, 2006 Lotto drawing, which featured a jackpot of $8 Million. One of the six winning tickets was purchased at the VIM Drug store on Broadway in Manhattan. This sixth ticket, worth $668,873, has yet to be claimed. All other jackpot-winning tickets for the July 29, 2006 Lotto drawing have been claimed.

The winning numbers for the August 1, 2006 Mega Millions drawing were 14, 29, 32, 43, 49 with a Mega Ball number of 14.  One winning ticket was sold at the Astoria Smokeshop and Convenience Store at 42-16 30th Avenue in Astoria, Queens.  The ticket, valued at $31 million, has yet to be claimed..

Lottery law specifies that all New York Lottery unclaimed prize money must be returned to the prize pool and available to Lottery players. These funds may be used to support prizes for Lottery games, promotions or special promotional games for the purpose of raising revenue to help support education statewide.  Lottery players have one year from the date of a drawing or, in the case of instant games, one year from the announced end-of-game date, to claim their prize.

Now entering its 40th year in operation, the New York Lottery has generated more than $31 billion to help support education in New York State, inlcuding a record $2.3 billion in fiscal year 2006-2007 on incoming revenue of $7.18 billion.  For more information, contact the New York Lottery Communications office at 518-388-3415 or email here.
