(Lottery Uses Cyber Search To Attract Statewide Pool of Available Candidates)
Schenectady, NY - The New York Lottery today announced the launch of a virtual talent search to find a few new faces to join the Lottery’s popular drawn team. The cyber search is intended to help the Lottery attract a statewide pool of available talent. The successful candidate(s) will join the Lottery’s existing draw team consisting of Yolanda Vega, Marissa Rodriguez, and Sarah Pingel.
“The Lottery prides itself on using cutting edge research and technology to ensure our products are always fun and entertaining for our players,” said New York Lottery Director Gordon Medenica. “We’re applying that same principle to find the next fun, entertaining personalities to join our Lottery draw team.”
The Lottery Drawings Personality is a unique role that brings excitement and energy to the Lottery’s daily televised drawings and to scores of personal appearances made on behalf of the Lottery year-round. Lottery Veteran Yolanda Vega said the job can be very challenging.
“The job requires a great deal of dedication and a real willingness to be flexible with your time,” said Vega. “The Lottery drawings take place 364 days a year. There are midday drawings and still others like Lotto that take place after 11 p.m. When you’re not in the studio in Schenectady you might be hosting a special event in Buffalo or Long Island – the job takes you where you’re needed. That’s what makes it exciting…for the right person.”
Those interested in the position must to send a photo and resume indicating any previous experience in stage, television or radio (if any) to drawteam@lottery.state.ny.us. All submissions must be received on or before 5 p.m. (EST) on March 28, 2008.
After a thorough review of all submissions, the Lottery will invite a select number of applicants to a special audition to be held at the Lottery’s draw studio in Schenectady in the near future.
Selected candidates must be 18 years of age or older and possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Those invited to audition will be required to undergo an extensive background check. This is a Civil Service position. Benefits, including reimbursable travel expenses to and from scheduled appearances, are available.
During its 40 years in operation, the New York Lottery has generated more than $31 billion to help support education in New York State, including a record $2.3 billion in fiscal year 2006-2007 on incoming revenue of $7.18 billion.
