October 21, 2009-The New York Lottery today announced the locations of the six Lottery retailers that sold a second-prizing winning Mega Millions ticket for the October 16, 2009 jackpot drawing. Each of the six tickets is worth a quarter of a million dollars each.
The Lottery is encouraging all players who purchased their tickets for the October 16th drawing to check their tickets carefully as they might be worth $250,000. The six second prize winning tickets were purchased at:
Lisa's Deli at 73-20 Forest Ave in Ridgewood, Queens Express Mart at 31 South West Street in Homer, Cortland County 5 Corner Convenience Store at 353 Merrick Road in Lynbrook, Nassau County K & D Deli at 636 Violet Avenue, Hyde Park, Dutchess County World Books at 1 Penn Plaza (Concourse Level 9) in Manhattan 7th Avenue Convenience at 200 7th Avenue, Manhattan Mega Millions second-prize ticket holders may claim their prize at one of 15 Lottery Customer Service Centers statewide. Prizes of $600 or less may be collected at any one of the Lottery's 16,000 retail locations statewide.
The sole jackpot winning ticket for the October 16th Mega Millions drawing for a jackpot of $200,000,000 was sold in Virginia.
The New York Lottery continues to be North America's largest and most profitable Lottery, earning more than $36.7 billion in education support statewide since its founding over 40 years ago. The Lottery contributed nearly $2.54 billion in fiscal year 2008-9 to help support education in New York State, which was over 12 percent of total state education funding to local school districts. The Lottery's ongoing commitment to education also includes the awarding of more than 1,100 Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) Scholarships annually to high school students pursuing their higher education in New York State. Since 1999, the Lottery has awarded more than 11,500 scholarships representing a total commitment of almost $50 million.
