New Jersey Supermarket Manager Is In The Money, Money, Money

Schenectady, NY- Thirty-nine-year-old Mike Deveux has more money than he ever dreamed possible. That’s after the Hewitt, New Jersey Supermarket Manager scratched one of the New York Lottery’s Money Money Money instant tickets and discovered he had a $3,000,000 winner.

“I was watching TV and scratching my ticket at the same time,” Deveux said. “I realized I had a jackpot winner and nearly went into shock. I never saw the end of the show,” he laughed.

Deveux purchased his ticket on May 13, 2008 at Galloway Food Market on Galloway Road in Warwick, Orange County. He claimed his ticket two days later at the Lottery’s Customer Service Center in Fishkill.

“I had a $10 winner on a Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas ticket,” said Deveux. “The retailer was out of those, so I bought the Money Money Money ticket instead. It was the first time I ever spent $10 on a lottery ticket and it was well worth it,” he said.

Deveux who just celebrated his first wedding anniversary, plans to pay off bills and take a trip to Hawaii.

The $3,000,000 top prize on the Money Money Money instant game pays out as $150,000 a year for 20 years, less required tax withholdings. Deveux will net $102,225 per year.

The New York Lottery contributed nearly $2.6 billion to help support education in New York State on incoming revenues of $7.549 billion in fiscal year 2007-08 -- a profit margin of 34.3%. The New York Lottery continues to be North America’s largest and most profitable Lottery, earning over $34.2 billion in education support statewide since its founding over 40 years ago.
