Sweepstakes Rules

1. How to enter: This sweepstakes is open to entrants 18 years or older. To enter this sweepstakes visit the official New York Lottery website at www.nylottery.org.

To enter, log on to www.nylottery.org between January 2, 2003 and January 26, 2003. If you are already registered in the New York Lottery e-mail program; log-in and check the sweepstakes entry box on the registration profile page and press submit and you will automatically be entered into the LOTTO 25th Anniversary Sweepstakes. If not a member, go to the registration page, register for receiving New York Lottery e-mails and then check the sweepstakes entry box on the registration profile page and press submit and you will automatically be entered into the LOTTO 25th Anniversary Sweepstakes. You can also receive additional entries when you refer your friends to the New York Lottery email program. When they register, you get an automatic additional entry into the LOTTO 25th Anniversary Sweepstakes. (Up to 5 additional entries if your friends register and acknowledge you as the referrer and use the email address you used to register at the New York Lottery website.

2. Entrants may only win once. Final entry deadline is January 26, 2003 at 5:00 pm. No hand-written or mailed in entry substitutes permitted. No paper entry blank entry method permitted. Entries become the sole property of the New York Lottery. None will be returned. LOTTO subscribers will not automatically be entered into the promotion.

3. Grand Prize Drawing: The Grand Prize drawing will take place on or about February 1, 2003. Entries must be received by January 26, 2003 at 5:00pm to be eligible for the Grand Prize drawing. The Grand Prize drawing will result in twenty-five (25) winners and their guest being awarded an opportunity to come to the New York Lottery headquarters in Schenectady, New York on or about February 26, 2003; have dinner with Yolanda Vega; watch the New York Lottery’s live drawings; one-night overnight accommodations and $100 spending money. All travel expenses are the sole responsibility of the winner. Approximate retail value of each prize is $250.00. The New York Lottery reserves the right to provide alternate dates for the Grand Prize.

4. Winners will be notified by phone, mail and/or email. Winners must provide a New York State mailing address. The New York Lottery Prize Payment unit will mail the Grand Prize winners a New York Lottery claim form via certified mail. The Grand Prize winners must complete and return the New York Lottery claim form to the New York Lottery Prize Payment Unit in the postage paid envelope provided within 10 days of being mailed (postmark date) or the prize may be awarded to an alternate.

5. All Federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Taxes are the sole responsibility of winners. No transfer, substitution or cash value of prizes is permitted except by the New York Lottery, who reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value in the event of unavailability.

Non-compliance with the above may result in an alternate winner being selected. Any prize/prize notification returned as undeliverable will result in disqualification and an alternate may be selected. By acceptance of prize, winner agrees that the New York Lottery may use their name, city of residence, and/or likeness for purposes of advertising or trade without further compensation. Odds of winning a prize are based on the number of entries received. Winners agree that the New York Lottery and their advertising agencies, agents and employees shall not be liable for injury, loss or damage of any kind resulting from participation in this drawing or from acceptance or use of the prize awarded.

6. The New York Lottery is not responsible for inaccurate entry information whether caused by the entrant or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Sweepstakes or by any human error which may occur in processing of the entries to this Sweepstakes. The New York Lottery is not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer on-line system, servers or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of e-mail or players on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website or combination thereof, including injury or damage to participants or to any other person’s computer related to or resulting from participating or downloading materials in this Sweepstakes. If for any reason the Sweepstakes is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of the New York Lottery which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Sweepstakes, the New York Lottery reserves the right at their sole discretion to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Sweepstakes. In the event of a dispute as to the identification of a winner based on an e-mail address, the prize will be awarded to the authorized account holder of the e-mail address submitted at the time of entry. "Authorized account holder" is defined as the person who is assigned to an e-mail address by an Internet access provider, on-line service provider or organization that is responsible for assigning e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address. Use of automated entry devices is prohibited. The right is reserved to disqualify any entrant and all their entries that violate the rules, tampers with the Sweepstakes or with the website. The right is reserved to modify, suspend or terminate the entire promotion or Internet portion at any time.

The New York Lottery reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any individual it finds to be tampering with the entry process or the operation of the game or website; to be acting in violation of the Official Rules; or to be acting in an unethical or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person. CAUTION: Any attempt by a participant or any other individual to deliberately damage any website or undermine the legitimate operation of the Sweepstakes is a violation of criminal and civil laws and should such an attempt be made, the New York Lottery reserves the right to seek damages from any such individual to the fullest extent permitted by law. The New York Courts (State and Federal) shall have sole jurisdiction of any of the controversy regarding the Sweepstakes and the laws of the State of New York shall govern the Sweepstakes. Each entrant waives any and all objections to jurisdiction and venue in those courts and hereby submits to the jurisdiction of those courts.

7. Employees of the New York Lottery, DDB Worldwide and other agents and immediate families of each are not eligible. Offer void where prohibited or restricted.
